What is the difference or reason some planes are green and others are blue on the Flight Aware map?
Well if you look at the current KFLL you’ll see the green is passing thru the area and the blue is arriving/departing FLL
(covering my head) hopefully my answer will deter the several who will issue lashings for this very question, when I say, check the search feature up at the top here, there are crucifixions by several on these boards for not checking that or the help feature first.
To answer it though, the green are aircraft not destined for the airport in question, the blue ones are destined for that airport.
Actually, one better suggestion. Put a map legend on all maps
Then you don’t have a need for the FAQ.
IIRC they might also originate from that airport

Correct. For example, when I view my local commercial airport traffic in a map window the following appears at the bottom of the image:
Flights in blue are to/from KPHL; flights in green are in the vicinity.
We need similar text under the small map window on an airport’s activity page to aid newbies, perhaps something along the lines of “Flights in blue are to/from the subject airport; flights in green are in the vicinity”.

I want my overflying airplanes blue (sky) and landing airplanes green (ground) and they should get darker as they go higher and…

The shadows move farther away from the aircraft as they go higher.
