Need help with PI Aware password.
Every time Inee to turn power off on my raspberry, fore some reason
the password does not work…
PIAWARE LOGIN: PI
PASSWORD: (THE PASSWORD I TYPE IN DOES NOT WORK, WHY ???)
I’m always having trouble with this issue, please help any one.
Thanks, Emil
I had a issue with special characters before using ready made images for the Raspberry Pi.
Just out of curiosity did you reset your password from the default one “flightaware” or “raspberry” depending on the image you are using?
If so did the new password contain any special characters such as !@#…?
My issue was the RPi’s locale was set to en-gb which maps special characters differently from say en-us.
An example is a US keyboard’s @ is actually a £ on a British keyboard.
So without me knowing it my password was actually set to p£ssword and not p@ssword.
(BTW that is not my actual password…)
So when I changed passwords locally using a keyboard plugged directly into the RPi things worked great I could login at will being @ was actually £ from the keyboard plugged directly into the RPi. When I would try to SSH into the RPi remotely from my computer using an en-us keyboard layout I could not log in because the en-us layout was sending an @ instead of the £ symbol.
If this is the case a quick search on the Internet will tell you how to change the layout.

Thanks for your quick responses.
I’m new to the “raspberry” and “flightaware” lingo and at times intimidating especially when I’m trying to
fix things after a screwup. Many times I had to start from scratch, reformat the SD card, download, etc, etc …,
but if you don’t try you will never learn.
This particular time I found that you not need to login unless you try to edit the coding.
After powering up the “raspberry,” live feed to “flightaware” is automatic.
Thanks again for the quick responses.
Also, if anyone would be interested organizing a local club in the Newport Beach/Costa Mesa, CA USA area, please let me know.
If we can get a group to gather to share our trials and tribulations and to learn.
