I am unable to assist you further with Delta equipment information.
Since the aircraft you are inquiring about is for Delta Air lines, you
may need to contact Delta Air lines directly at 1-800-221-1212 or via
e-mail through their website www.delta.com.
I trust that once you contact Delta Air Lines you will be assisted
further.
Thank you for choosing Northwest Airlines, now part of Delta Air Lines.
We value your patronage and consider it a privilege to serve your travel
needs.
Either the merger has already happened or somebody needs to tell Northwest Customer Service what planes they fly.
They are still actually operating two 747-200’s in pax configuration for the charter business and even some equipment subs, they are N623US and N624US. They are primarily used for military charters and football charters.
So what im gathering from this is… NW has only 2 of these planes and they are not used for normal operations, so why are you all over NW’s customer service? Just thought it was kind of harsh if they didn’t mention those 2 pieces of equipment. IMHO
In looking into the history of that flight number it used to be a flight number assigned ABQ-MSP-MKE, with either an A319/20. Then it was MSP-BWI, same a/c. Now it is a A333 HNL-MSP, with the exception of this sub. I wonder if on either of those routes there were conflicting flight numbers within the DL system? Any ideas?
actually this is the second email I sent them, the first was a generic one including no related information just saying the merger would be a smooth one and they never referenced me to Delta
Anytime Wazzu90,
At the risk of sounding contradictory Northwest’s customer service is much more superior than Delta’s when it comes to response time. I e-mailed Northwest and got a same day response while with Delta it has been two days and still waiting…
Last year, the New Orleans Saints flew on a chartered Northwest 747-200 when they flew to London for their international game. The head coach of the team latter came out and expressed his disappointment with the plane, in sum, just said the seats were too small and in general was an uncomfortable flight.
I can tell you that Northwest still has those two 747-200s, still in NWA colors and I know NWA used them during the Super Bowl.
I know the freighters also have been used by Delta as they are now used for the Civil Reserve Air Fleet program which flew the planes between McGuire Air Force Base and Kuwait. One freighter will be used throughout 2009. On the freighters, this is what I got from Delta: We will continue to operate the 747-200 freighter service for the foreseeable future, offering convenient, reliable main deck capacity. We are building a schedule around the core Asia markets of Shanghai, Tokyo, and Osaka with connections via the Anchorage hub to Los Angeles and Chicago.
after over a week I finally got a response from Delta:
Thank you for your e-mail to Delta Air Lines.
Delta and Northwest are looking at all the routes and the equipment used
on routing and will move some fleets to other routes best suited for the
needs. As of now, no information on retiring any aircrafts just
adjustments.
Not entirely on topic, but does anyone have any idea of the fate of the Northwest DC-9 fleet after the merger? I can’t imagine that DL would want to hold on to them for long. I’m an admitted DC-9 fan–I’d pay whatever necessary to be on the last DC-9 flight.
