New Data on Stats page!

[quote=“tjowen”]

Yes, just requires a little re-work since this is leveraging the same data as the polar graph, above, which lumps everything into 200+

[quote=“dbaker”]

You may still be working on this, so ignore me if you are. This morning I noticed the 4th column says 150-200 nm and the 5th column now says 250+nm, are we missing a column in between these two that should show positions from 200-250 nm?

Checking into that…looks like work in progress.

Your range is Exceptional! What are you running for an Antenna setup?

The 200/250 issue will be sorted otu tonight.

…and what’s the elevation of the hill he lives on?

Matt

For the most of my 100 days feeding I’ve been using a 4-legged spider built on a SO bulk-head connector and it does work very well. Since this past Sunday June 14th I’ve been trying an 8-segment Coaxial Colinear made with RG6 satellite TV coax. So far it really has not extended my range since I was pretty much at my limit, though it does seem to ‘hold-on’ to those birds that are way out there past 270 nm just ever-so-much longer.

My location is probably the biggest contributor to my range, at least in the north and west of the sky. I’m at 76m above sea level with the antenna reaching another 7m at the peak of the garage roof. I’ve been meaning to take some photos of the set-up, perhaps I’ll get a chance this weekend.

The antenna is fed from the roof into the garage with approx. 5m of RG6 coax and is connected to the Nevis Computers LNA/Filter then into a R820T dongle that is plugged into a powered USB hub and finally into the RPi2 running Dump1090-mutability v1.14.

Here’s a shot from PlaneFinder on June 15th, my 1st full day using the CoCo antenna. I’m located under the red dot.

Thank you very much.

Got home from work and it was overcast so I figured it was a good time for a few photos.

#1 taken from the deck looking northwest. I can see easily 20km.

#2 From the otherside of the house I have other homes that are higher then mine, therefore the my range is cutoff quite abit to the East & Southeast

#3 From the same deck looking up at my two antenna mountings. The taller is the CoCo and the shorter one is the 4-legged spider. Both are in 3/4" electrial conduit.

#4 Close-up of conduit mounting. On the left is the CoCo in about 2.5m piece of conduit and the spider is on the right in about 0.5m piece of conduit.

#5 The 4-legged spider.

#6 The main RPi2 system with the dongle plugged into a power USB hub and connected to the Nevis LNA/Filter.

#7 My testbed BananaPi, presently connected to the 4-legged spider through the Perfect Vision Sat-TV amp and Splitter. Also seen is a Celwave Variable RF amp that I was trying out as well. Everything is hung under a shelf about 6’ off the floor of the garage, that’s why you see string and whatnot holding items.

Thank you FlightAware, I like the new 250+ column.

Holy spaghetti Batman! That pile of wires looks like my setup! I did take the time to tidy up the outdoors last night. Will take some pictures tonight.

Cheers!

Think that’s a lot of wires… this is the type of stuff I see everyday at work… I guess it’s all relative to your point-of-view…

Just like to say I’m liking the 250+ column that was recently added to the new graph on our stats page. Thanks to all involved for their great work.

Primary and test COCO PVC mounted to my gable mount OTA Omnidirectional TV antenna. Going to replace test COCO with a ground plane for comparison. Need to get above that big bag-o-water surrounding them… Need to do something, because the new ring on the stats page is almost empty!

Cheers!
LitterBug

Great looking stats.

Be happy you have a good view, Im in the middle of Mountains. I have a hill that is 60ft higher to the west … I have the Cascades to the East.

“good view” is pretty subjective, I would gladly trade the flatlands of Ohio for some scenery… I have a Great view of the big metal birds in the air, but see nothing but corn, wheat, and beans outside…

Cheers!

Is it just me seeing the range change on the “Coverage Distribution” and the “Positions Reported by Distance from Receiver” charts?

If I am logged in it is <50, 50-100, 100-150, 150-200, 200-250, 250+

If I log out it changes to <60, 60-120, 120-180, 180-240, 240-300, 300+

I never noticed it before, but logged in I see the graph and chart in NM and logged out it is scaled in Km.

It sounds like you are seeing it in miles when logged out. They must be basing the scale on geographical location derived from our incoming IP addresses.
…Tom

Yep, I think you are correct.

Thanks

Me thinks that we might need a 300+ column added to the Positions Reported by Distance graph on the stats page…
