News story on Falcon Captain Hal Mangels, and the co-pilot as Freddy Castro.

My buddy told me that last week and I forgot to update the forum- sorry for dropping the ball boys…

New Info-

FO wasn’t typed.
Captain was told not to fly the airplane. but wanted to get home…
Fuel was observed leaking in large quantities from the wings.
A part was installed a few days before the accident that is close to the fuel tanks.
Fragga (the owner) is a douche, a typical south Florida trust fund baby, with WAY more money then brains. Just had his G-III impounded by the Venezuelan government cause he landed at an army base with no permission.

Yowsers. Unless I’m driving The Sled, I’m not getting in an airplane that’s actively leaking fuel from the wings! Maybe I’m just spoiled… :open_mouth:

N500EF Gulfstream III last flight!!!, guess it’ll become some General’s airplane???

No- word is they’re giving it back in two weeks, my buddy has been flying it for him and will be heading to Tenerife for 2 weeks.

Nice looking Gulfstream!!! I’d want it back too!!!

Any more info on Hal’s crash?

i would take a really old gulfstream any day over a falcon, sorry about your loss.

This is very sad. Hal was a very interesting person.

I flew with Hal many times in the mid 80’s. He was an excellent pilot. I have flown 25k+ hours since I flew with him and can still say he was my favorite individual to fly with out of hundreds of people I have flown with since then.
