How to Install and Configure Piaware 5.0 SD card image - Quickstart Guide

That won’t work as dump1090-fa won’t accept the dump978-fa output format as input.

You could probably make the javascript of the webinterface load the aircraft.json for dump978.
that would involve making that available at dump1090-fa/data2 for example (via lighttpd)
Then change the javascript to process a 2nd aircraft.json.

Maybe i’ll take a look, no promises though.

After carefully following the above instructions I seem to have done something wrong. I have a 1090 antenna attached to the blue dongle and the 978 antenna attached to eh orange dongle. Both are attached to a powered hub feeding into my Pi. when checking the status of each I receive the following message. Your guidance is appreciated. Please forgive a newbie.

That image doesn’t work.

You probably removed brackets or sth.
(or didn’t wait for the upload to complete)

Sorry, let me try again.

pi@piaware:~ $ sudo systemctl status dump978-fa ● dump978-fa.service - dump978 ADS-B UAT receiver

The 1090 instance seems to be working as it should.
Thanks again for the help.

Status doesn’t help… no actual log included.
Use this:
sudo journalctl -eu dump978-fa

Thanks, output below.

Yeah that says nothing.

dump978-fa probably isn’t enabled.

post the output of
sudo piaware-config

Did you reboot after changing the settings?

Yes but will do so again

Check the log again.

I’m not sure why there is nothing in the log with that config for piaware.

Did you physically unplug the dongles after setting the serial numbers?

Note the pi monitor is showing Receiver: error:not connected to Mode S receiver:not connected to UAT receiver.

and

Multilateration: error: Multilateration enabled but client is not running

No. I will do so now.

After writing a new serial number the power needs to be completely removed before the new number will show.

Thanks. I have power cycled the USB hub and the Pi.Still showing the same console messages as above.

what does
rtl_test

show?

What is INVALIDARGUMENT ?

May be single quotes ’ ’ to be removed from /etc/default/dump978-fa ?

RECEIVER_OPTIONS="--sdr driver=rtlsdr,serial=00000978 --format CS8"
.

Unlikely, the piaware-config was fine and it’s the sd-card image.

OK, agreed, but what INVALIDARGUMENT is?
