I am buying a plane for which tracking is currently hidden. How do I turn it back on? How long does that process take? I would like to share my progress as I fly it home.

Definitely a question for the staff, not the forum.
The previous owner may have requested that public tracking of the aircraft be blocked. Not only on FlightAware, but also on FlightRadar24, AirNav, etc. Or perhaps your aircraft (depending on the model) simply doesn’t show tracking because it doesn’t have an ADSB transponder, only mode -S.
Thanks for the help. The aircraft does have ADS-B out (and in). I checked with FlightAware support, and it looks like it gets disabled at the FAA level. So, I need to contact the FAA once I have the registration and ask them to unblock it. FlightAware will have the data in 2-3 weeks, although I can contact them to add it sooner.
Is it worth asking the current owner to contact FAA sooner and get it rolling?
