WTF is this?? And are there no other high schools in Alabama, or what?? [or should I say *Hah Skoo-ols?]
My high school’s football team always rode back in a beat-up school bus…and we were the school district with money.
You’re high school also probably was never featured in Sports Illustrated as the best high school team in the country.
SI voted my high school football team most likely to serve 10 to 20!

No, but many in the area have CONSISTENTLY been up there at or near #1. Cleveland St. Ignatious, Cle-St. Edward, Cle-Glenville, Masillon Washington and their arch rival Canton McKinley (only the best H.S. football rivalry on the planet, which led to the birth of the NFL). I’m in the middle of H.S. football’s hotbed. Maybe that’s why nobody has to travel too far for real competition. Bring on the Bucs!!

I think you have been watching “O Brother Where Art Thou” too much. Always nice to see people making fun of the way fellow Americans talk.
Oh a Southerner. Yeah what school has the mula for a dang plane charter.

My father lives in South Carolina, and he lived in Virginia for 20 years before that. Been there, done that, spoken w/ many a southerner. The truth is the truth…y’all.
Jist a shooot in tha durk, but it coulda come from the dill they had wit MTV.
Da tell me dat satulite is purty kool stuff? We dont havit in dese parts yet.
Just for the record: I never said that southerners were backward or stupid; just that most speak with a “southern draw,” which is actually kinda neat (and very true). Don’t be so thin-skinned!!
A few tidbits of info on the game.
OK, so #4 wasn’t really about the game, but oh well. It was nice to be able to sit at home and watch it on FSN and not have to fight 71st St. traffic!!!
As someone with roots in the south, I saw nothing wrong with your statement. Some of the sexiest sounding women are the ones with southern drawls.
I must say that i think the MTV deal has a small little role in that one.
And by the way the show isnt even all that great.
MTV = Masochist TV because you need to be a masochist to watch the channel!

**I graduated from Union High School in Tulsa in 2004. I go to Oklahoma State now. Here are a few “tidbits” about the game that you forgot to mention!!
And Finally- I just want to say to learn your shit before you go and bad mouth another school. We have tried to play tougher schools… Hoover was finally one who agreed to play us. And don’t say we don’t go out of Oklahoma… because we do. **
Bring your little Union football team up to Ohio (or PA for that matter), and the big boys will show you how to play some REAL football.
I beleive that you will have that chance next (2007) season in the Kirk Heirbstreit Ohio vs. USA Football Classic.
PLEASE BEAT THEM DOWN!!!
Granted, they are now 0-3 and we don’t hear much from them. Of course, when you open your schedule with the #1 team in the USA, followed by the #15 team in the USA, then play the #2 team in the state, it could be ugly.
From the CIF, Union turned down Long Beach Poly, Mission Viejo, and the lesser known Bishop Amat. Now, I grew up just south of Clovis. Beating them those two years (or most any year for that matter) is nothing to brag about. I have also heard that Bellvue(or view, I don’t know) in WA wanted to play Union, but was turned down. Yes, the same school that STOPPED De La Salle’s winning streak. Saying that DLS was afraid to play Union is a joke because they did play Evangel Christian (LA) that was ranked #4 at the time, in LA, and won, played Southlake Carrol (ranked #14 at the time) beat them…do I need to continue?
It is good to be proud of your alma mater, but putting a tatoo of a HIGH SCHOOL logo on your body? Excessive.
New coach, not an excuse if you have the players that Union does. He is going totally away from Union’s strengths. THEY DON’T EVEN RUN A TRUE SPEAD OPTION!!! Big Bill created a pro-style/run & gun system. New coach, while understandable to make his mark and seperate himself from Big Bill, should use the strengths he has. THROW THE DAMN BALL!!! Look how successful Union was vs. Jenks when they threw the ball! Against Muskogee, again, couldn’t run the “option” worth a crap, moved the ball with the spread formations and passing!
One last thing…TU offered way more than they ususally do of the gate. Why not have 25k-30k there rather than 16k?
I also found the one rivalry that I can GUARANTEE is more brutal than OSU-OU…Auburn-Alabama. Now that is brutal…
OK, back to aviation…can this thread be saved?
Glad to hear it. I was so busy this past weekend that I forget who came to Massillon to play in it this year. BTW: I love Herbie (in a heterosexual college football fan sort of way), and College Gameday is the best program on ESPN, no matter where they happen to be in any particular week.
It is good to be proud of your alma mater, but putting a tatoo of a HIGH SCHOOL logo on your body? Excessive.
Absolutely. One of (if not the) best HS football rivalries is the Canton McKinley-Massillon war each year. It’s the reason the NFL was started. Anyhow, there are the normal throngs of HS football fans and alumni of both schools, and you also have the guys who never let go of their H.S. years, still wearing their 30-yr.-old varsity jackets and picking fights with fellow baby boomers from the other side (on the way to the parking lot to get in their '82 Camaro, no doubt).
I also found the one rivalry that I can GUARANTEE is more brutal than OSU-OU…Auburn-Alabama. Now that is brutal…
I agree. I still think that Ohio State-Michigan is the best rivalry, but there’s much more raw hatred and brutality between Auburn and 'Bama. My older brother went to Alabama, and he vehemently hates anything or anybody that even speaks of Auburn. It’s borderline psychotic…

Doesn’t look good.
I was in the “beautiful” city of Pelham, AL this past weekend and one of the sales guys at the yard wanted to leave early. He played TE for Alabama. Well, the sales mgr. is an Auburn grad and told the salesman that if he wanted to leave early, he had to say “War Eagle”. Needless to say, the salesman stayed.
Pik, I think you’d best pack your bags and get ready to move back to Clovis!
How can you live in Tulsa and be unaware of one of the greatest rivalries in college football? The Red River Shoot Out!!!
Even my PSU grad son in law, who was the kicker on the '95 Rose Bowl team for JoePa, looks forward to the game and the opportunity to call up my Sooner grad son in law, utter “Hookem Horns”, and hangup!
