Hockey Tail Numbers

Detroit Red Wings appear to have upgraded to a former Midwest Airlines MD81 from their old DC-9 this season:

I saw this plane parked on the ramp at Love Field the other day while flying home, and wondered who it belonged to. Turned out the Red Wings were in town to play the Dallas Stars.

This aircraft was in Toronto yesterday and the Red Wings were here also.

Yes this is confirmed, the Red Wings are no longer using the DC-9 or Red Bird II as it was called. They have upgraded at the beginning of this season to Red Bird III. If you want a cabin tour of the new aircraft and all the interior modifications that were done, you can watch this video.

Very nice! I like the paint job on the exterior of the plane.

Well, looks like the Rangers and Sharks (and more coming I’m sure) have re-blocked their aircraft. I guess if you have plenty of funds you can find a way to get around the new FAA regs. Any ideas how the teams can get around this? Curious…

After a very strong appeal by organizations such as AOPA, the FAA has reinstated the blocked registration at will. So it was short and sweet while it lasted. But unfortunately companies will start re-blocking their aircraft again.

Anyone know about Dallas Stars flights. I am trying to put the list together for my Charter Operations Division.

Thank you,

Heres an update to the Detroit Red Wings aircraft. The MD-81 that they acquired from Midwest (N812ME) was operating under that N Number all year. Now it seems that they have changed the registration on this aircraft. It’s now their registration off of their old DC-9; N682RW. The registration changed was authorized on 12/30/2011.

Can someone please help me track the Buffalo Sabers flight to Anahiem

Tail # most probably be JUS551. That’s the next number in their sequence. Start checking around noon or before the day before they play there.

NOt sure if my last post went through… But does anyone have the tailnumber for the bruins to San Jose?

THanks

I didn’t know that they charter NHL. What Airline and Aircraft Type does LA Kings?

Scroll up a few posts…

The Kings charter an Airbus 319 from Air Canada. Flight numbers 7023 & 7024.

Stars are no longer on N757SS since the Tom Hicks bankruptcy debacle. It was repossessed for a period of time and stashed at some airfield in NC. It’s a bizjet now and the tail logos have been stripped. They usually end up on a chartered 727.
