This morning, I checked my email and saw a notice that FA is not receiving data from my station. It looks like the feed stopped around the same time that I upgraded the firmware to my router. I spent a good deal of time trying to track down that issue, and now I have consistent pings after changing two settings in the new firmware. My router is an ASUS RT-AC68U.
For some reason my static IP for my piaware was not there, so I added it back.
There is a field (Wireless Mode) in WIFi settings for 2.4 GHz channel that I set to Legacy.
The second setting allowed me to get consistent pings. Without that, I got good pings about 2% of the time. I have no idea what it does.
Despite the good pings, I was unable to load the browser. So I hooked up a monitor to the HDMI port of the piaware to see what it was doing. It’s sitting at a piaware login: prompt. So what am I supposed to do now? Was there a bad piaware firmware update?
I don’t have a USB keyboard, and I don’t remember how to telnet into the raspberry pi. I thought I could just telnet IP#, but I get connection refused.
Last night, I was unable to pull up the flightaware website. This morning I had the email for 2 of my sites, but they were working when I checked this morning. My third site, was also not reporting positions during about the same times. I thought maybe I had a network issue, but my third site is at work, on a different isp. Not sure what happened, and the one consistent nearby site did not appear to have the issue. No idea what happened, but since everything is working now, there isn’t much to do about it.
I’m not sure what you’re suggesting. If I go to flightaware.com and select my adsb, I see:
Data Feed: Today - about 15 hours ago
Feeder Check-in: Live - 4 minutes ago
I assume Feeder Check-in of 4 minutes ago is good, but Data Feed 15 hours ago is not good. Also, following the link for live data or entering my IP manually in a browser does not work. It looks like piaware’s browser is not functional.
I finally remembered how to telnet in to the raspberry pi, but once there, I’m not sure what I can do.
Have you tried restarting the RPI?
Check-ins with no data indicate that maybe the USB dongle became disconnected or an application is not working.
Have you looked at your devices log output on your webpage. It may give a clue as to the issue.
