What’s up with the new format of the photo on the main page? The main picture is centered but looks like the same picture is also sized to fit the area behind it.
Is it looking broken to you or is there a problem? It should show a correctly sized image regardless of how wide your browser is, with some limitation.
What browser are you using?
I don’t know that I’d consider that “beyond all recognition.” 
What version of Firefox are you running? I can’t reproduce it with v2 or v3.5.

(I don’t know if there is or isn’t a policy against ad blocking in FlightAware. All I know is that if a person is benefiting from this service then you shouldn’t be blocking ads. Have the courtesy pay for using this site if you are going to block ads.)
Continuing the rant just a little bit: If you are getting service out of ANY website without having to pay for that web site then DON’T BLOCK THE ADS! The reason the web site is free to you is because of the advertisers.
Yes, people reporting this problem and having us debug it are actually causing the problem themselves by blocking ads.
We don’t have a published policy about ad blocking, but doing so defies all reason and logic as well as violates the social contract of using any web site.

Ad Block seems to be the issue. I didn’t know it blocked ads within the site. I installed it to help stop the stuff that was slowing down my performance. I disabled it for flightaware.

My ad is NOT there because of the way the photo is on the main page. I do NOT have adblock.
Somewhat related… Is there a way to view the picture displayed on the main page?
In a related question: Is there a way to view the user uploaded photos? All I see are white boxes with the green circles below them.

Wow, that’s really weird. Looks like the result of some content blocking gone awry.
Does the photos page appear the same in another browser on the same machine? May be a content filter upstream of you.
Photo’s show fine in IE.
