I’ve noticed that flights in the positions tab disappear after a few hours. I thought they are supposed to stay there for 24 hours? Thoughts? I.E. My history shows my site as seen 34 UAT flights today. But nothing at all in the position tab. Are they stored somewhere else accessible? Charlie
UPDATE: I see that the positions tab data is only for the last hour. Other tabs are for the previous 24 hours. So I got that wrong. It would be great if FA would allow you to see the data that your site has tracked for the previous 24 hours.
I kinda went a little overboard, but that’s what this project is all about.
Diggyb thank you for sharing this. It is exactly what I was wondering. It is probably beyond my skill set, but none-the-less you answered my questions. Thank you!
You’re welcome. It’s really not to hard to get the project running but it does take some command line fun to get it running. I have had mine running for just over a month and have captured some really good data. If you haven’t seen it, my dashboard is running at https://piaware-tools.diggybell.com
I have studied your github. From a none code writer perspective you do a great job. I would like to do what you have created but I do not know how to do command line programming. May be someday. Charlie
Thank you for the kind words and good luck! Perhaps you have a friend that would be willing to set it up for you. Once everything is running it just does its thing day after day.
wish it was as simple as flashing a new IMG and then do an automatic dump to something like cloud memory…
PiAware Tools is a little bigger of a platform than I’d want to run on a Raspberry Pi. I’m running Oracle Linux on a virtual machine with two dedicated vCPUs and 8GB or RAM. I’ve collected 5.3M positions since 16 May and the database is just under 2GB on disk. The MicroSD in a Pi wouldn’t last long with that kind of database crunching.
I appreciate the info. I used to manage a very small sql database many years ago so managing the data would be easy for me. Its getting access to historical data from my site that beyond my abilities. Ill do some more reading on it. thanks.
