Same image, same procedure!
Thanks!!!. I thought I had read something but I think that must have been old (no longer applies) info.
I am kinda excited I talked my local airport to letting me add a station for 978. There are already several 1090 stations out there. and they are footing the bill for the set up.
Hi @charosenz,
Note that 978 aircraft typically fly much lower than 1090 aircraft, so the range and number of aircraft seen will be a lot less. In times of bad weather, thunderstorms, fog or snow, it is likely to be very low (I know there are IFR aircraft with 978 and I have even seen some well into the flight levels). Also, you may get better range putting the receiver on a hill, a little away from the airport. The receivers can be overloaded by strong transponder signals.
Yes. I build and fly airplanes. I am interested in 978 for two reasons. 1) that is what I have. 2) there is 1090 coverage all over. But 978 is limited. I would love to put one on a hill. but I do not know anyone in that area that would let me do that. The airport that I am working with has very little hills in the area so I think it will be a good installation.
Thank you. Charlie
