Does FA scrub records?

I read:

“That record has been removed from the FlightAware website. A screen capture is attached to this story.”

I just checked FA and the data is not there. Why does FA scrub data? Under what conditions do you do this and why?

Unflown flight plans are automatically removed 2 hours after the proposed departure time. Otherwise they just become clutter.
