I’d like to choose to allow other feeders to contact me through the PiAware user stats page (and therefore I could contact folks that opted in to allow contacts). I can see a lot of fairly local folks “near me” on the stats pages and I’d love to reach out to them to say hello and see if they wanted to tour each other’s setups, trade tips, etc. But there seems to be no way to actually contact folks. Obviously I want to respect privacy so it should be an opt-in feature only and maybe should be limited to a radius of, say, 300 NM? To avoid spam? Just a thought.

I’ve had that thought myself. I’d really like that feature, too.

Here on forum we have the same ID as on our feeders.
If an user doesn’t want to socialize… he is not here. Contacting him on other avenues is inappropriate.
That’s only my opinion.

I guess I feel like they may not want to participate in forums, but would be open to a friendly exchange in person/locally. Maybe not. You may be right. That’s why it should be opt-in only.
Agreed. They may hate the Discourse forum format and don’t come here, or simply don’t require any help which is what the majority of topics are about, but may be open to being contacted by their fellow feeders nearby for a private chit-chat online. People do enjoy bragging about their feeders, kit, setup and stuff.
