Coax Issues due to "Woody The "Coax" Pecker"

A while back I have an issue with my ADSB interfering with 1 and only 1 channel on my TV. I use an Outdoor antenna. This Woodpecker that I witnessed (and wish I had gotten a picture) landed on my pole. He pecked a hole in my Coax that was exactly 1/4 wave length from the antenna. This caused TV interference anytime I received an ADSB Signal and that is a huge amount. I pulled the cable down and found that it was damaged all the way to the center core… UGH… ordered a new cable and installed it and have not had a any further problems… I still see Woodpeckers around, but none have tried to hit the cable again.

Hopefully they will be smart enough to remember it was a dead end getting to the center conductor!

Maybe so… He got a far enough down to short the Coax… I cannot see where there would be any voltage that would be measurable… Be he has not come back to it and that was a few years ago…

I read the title thinking the Russian “Woodpecker”, and was going to suggest a filter.

Maybe he ate some of the coax shield braid and it wouldn’t pass. Therefore, he passed! Teach him to be a pecker.

Not this time… This was a Real Red Woodpecker with Wings…

BTW, I had been communicating with the station engineer concerning this. Keep in mind that I have an Amateur Radio License and Commercial FCC working on Avionics on Aircraft. I showed him the cable and he said he had never seen anything like that… Funny thing about it… If he had chosen an area 6 or more inches from there, it would have never been an issue!
