Angelina Jolie gets PPL and largest single engine prop plane

I’ve always thought it made little sense to take your own aircraft on long overseas trips like that. You need to bring 2 full crews because of the duty cycles, your crew (usually) don’t have much if any familiarity with the local airspace, approaches, etc. For less money, you can buy the entire first class cabin of a commercial flight and charter a plane at your destination (in most places) and be at least as comfortable and probably safer as well.

Flightaware N808MX
Ms. Jolie’s personal aircraft are a Cirrus SR-22GTS N808MX which replaced an earlier Cirrus SR-22G2 N805MX which was used to earn her PPL.
Added to the fleet last year was Cessna Caravan N48JA.
Currently N808MX was approved to be reregistered N805MX.
Both aircraft are owned by Ms. Jolie’s production company Chivan Productions.

Most operators of this this type af aircraft fly with three flight crew members on long international trips, and will rotate rest breaks during the flight. Between flight planning/handling services and flight crews that have international operations experience, I’m sure that AJ’s flight crews have no problem being “familiar” with the locales that AJ frequents.

I was just about to reply with a note on the An-2! Yes, the An-2 is one amazing aicrat. I grew up in Bulgaria near an airport where every morning I woke up to its unique sounding engine. It kept taking up skydivers over and over again for years. Now, about 20 years later I was visiting Bulgaria and was happy to see An-2’s still flying. here’s a real good one I shot:

The link above has a full size photo. I also saw one at the aviation museum in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in not so great shape ut I can’t find that photo.

We do these trips to Europe with 2 crews, but get a local pilot in Europe in certain situations to give us the local knowledge.

That’s cool! Thanks for sharing.

To each their own I suppose  …BTW…who’s “We”…out of curiosity…PM me if it’s not for open disclosure…

Whaaaaat??? Did you actually say that men are more likely to read the manual???

As far as I can tell, the biggest single engine prop is the A-1 Skyraider. Awaiting harsh criticism for reviving a SERIOUSLY dead thread  Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.
