AMERICAN AIRLINES TO LAY OFF 400 EMPLOYEES AT TJSJ

AMERICAN AIRLINES hub in San Juan ,Puerto Rico is cutting back from 38 flights to the states to only 18 and its labor force in Puerto Rico which is around 2,300 ,well in September 400 of them will get pink slips, Also American eagle is cutting back its flight and staff but I don,t have the exact numbers for them…For more info go to www.elnuevodia.com…. :exclamation:

…American Eagle is also getting rid of ALL of its saabs.

And replacing them with repurposed ATR72s from the downsized SJU route.

Isn’t that a big jump in capacity. I am really skeptical either way, they get rid of saabs over RJ’s. Unless, they cut frequency.

Its not a huge difference and I’m sure they’ll reduce frequency.

I am curious if this is an indicator of another mode of transportation…the cruise industry. I know my in-laws would go from SJU a lot. There must be drop off in that department to leave a cash crop behind. I hope everyone involved lands on their feet.
