Air Force One

Is there a LEGAL way to find out where AF1 has been? Or wheels up/down time? I remember on an episode of The West Wing, they mentioned that there was a wire reporter on the ground at Andrews to record the wheels down time.
Thanks, y’all!

Yeah! Have a forum where people can post the position and time of AF1.

A 747-200 AF1 just flew by my house at around 3000 AGL!!! It was so AWESOME!!!

BTW: I got some shots of it. I’ll post them later.

So, I found out that AF1 missions are classified. So, I don’t know guess there’s a way to do it. :frowning:

No idea why :unamused:

Does that surprise you?

Sorry! Got a little (only a little!) carried away. Wazzu, you’re catching on. Most of the stuff I see is to/from PAE or to BFI.

To PAE.

It looked like it was intercepting the extended 34 L centerline on about an 8 nm final.

There is almost always a Presidential TFR at the airport around the arrival or departure time. You can find them listed here: TFR
I don’t know a way to get historical TFRs however.

Waiting for pictures.

Nice! Did you know it was going to fly over or hear it on the radio?

I used my Mk. 1 eyeballs and thankfully my camera (w/ telephoto lense) was ready to go. I had no clue it was going to fly by.

Sorry the picture is really burry! I was at 200 mm with a polarizer. (100 ISO, f/5.6, 1/125) If I knew it was coming I would have done a bit better job on choosing my shutter speed/ISO. Oh well. I got the shot.

To get an idea of how high it was…

Flew over our house, too. Thought it was an LCF, but turned out to be AF1. Whole family got to see it.

Drove up to PAE and saw it parked:

Just a little bit away is parked:

Decked out in new winglets.

Actually, it is a VC-25. It’s not Air Force 1 until the president is aboard.

In any case, it’s a great looking aircraft.

I have checked the AOPA site (www.aopa.org) which has the security TFR’s on the front page. Click that and it lists the President and VP TFRs and the NOTAMs that go with them. Right now there is only one for Indianapolis for Nov 1st, with some anticipated ones. Click it and it takes you down to the NOTAM and the times it is in effect, which you can figure out the times the VIP will be in town.

In this case, it is the VP that is coming as it is only a 3 mile radius. The president will list a 10 to 30 mile radius.

That’s very cool!

PS Did you know you’re missing a shingle? Must have blown off during that storm a couple weeks ago! Have you seen pictures of the Mukilteo Ferry during the storm?
