Does anyone know why American Airlines changed the equipment that it uses on flights 70/71 DFW/FRA from Boeing 777’s to Boeing 767’s?

2 reasons:
It needs more 777’s to fly their new LAX-Shanghai route and since they aren’t receiving any more, they have to take them from somewhere else.
Also, with fuel the way it is, it’s generally not very profitable to fly a 777 from the US to Europe unless you have alliance hubs on both ends.
