I have uploaded a number of photos that do not appear when I type in the tail number of the particular airplane. In fact, probably nothing I’ve uploaded for the last several months appears. However, if I go to the photo’s I’ve uploaded, they’re all in my library, or whatever you want to call it, and quite a number of them show they have been viewed, many quite a number of times. Who is looking at these and how are they seeing them if I can’t see them? Why are they not being posted after I upload them?
Many of your photos aren’t associated with the aircraft’s N number, e.g. 1080J isn’t identified by N number in the photo’s description so it won’t show up when you search for the aircraft.
So how do I correct that? Am I doing the upload incorrectly? In most cases, I enter an N number with the photo?
See discussions.flightaware.com/view … 0145#80145 for possible solution.
There’s your problem right there. If you don’t enter an N number when you upload the photo, it’s therefore not possible to search for the photo by entering an N number.
But on most of them, I have entered an N number. Why aren’t those showing up. It’s a small minority that I’ve forgotten. 99% have the N number. Basically, nothing seems to be showing up since the upload system was changed.
Hmmmmmm… I just tried searching for several of your photos by N number with no results found, even though I can see the photos individually on your photo page and see that they are correctly identified by N number in the description. Very strange.
I placed a vote on the picture uploaded for flightaware.com/live/flight/N2209R and it did not show up… (I did a shift - refresh in MSIE 7 and F5 to force a refresh)
The vote does show up on 184.108.40.206/photos/view/photo … ywisch;o=5 as there was no votes before my casting one so what Mark posted in the link I provided above may not be working??
Yeah, clearly there are some issues. I’ve got about 700 or so that do show up, and then after the change, nothing. Not sure what I could do differently
Photo needs to be tagged N2209R, no short hand or lower case.
Could it possibly be set up on the back end to convert lower case to upper case on submission or have instructions clearly marked at 220.127.116.11/photos/upload.rvt to type in upper case?
Is there any way I can go back and edit the ones that aren’t showing up?
Yes, the uploader can click on any photo to edit the tag.
It should be validating any input to a proper registration at some point, but I don’t remember where.
something happened recently that when you “track” a certain N#, the photo box says ‘upload a photo now’ even though photos have been posted of that aircraft
There’s definitely a problem as of today. Aircraft that I’m very familiar with, that fly in & out of KFDK frequently have been showing on the tracking page for weeks … but as of today the blank place holder is there instead.
This is true of most of my photos, including those that have numerous votes. (All of my photos have N-numbers).
The problem still exists today, though it is inconsistent. Some photos associate correctly and others (many) do not.
Add N1943L to the list… It used to display so as others are experiencing, something broke.
I did run it through both the discussion forums and live site as well as use Firefox and MSIE 8.0 to see if maybe something behaved differently from different access points but everything was consistent.
I went to the original photo upload page that you put in the registration, aircraft type, description, airport, etc; I clicked “Submit Query” and the small “preview” pic that is on the flight tracker page re-appeared. I did to several photos that I uploaded and I know were there at one point, but then said “upload photo now”. If you have just a few pics, its not that bad but if you have alot of pics, it takes too long. Something has messed up?
N427BC is another.
Of my 400+ photos, about 70% are not showing up. The others appear as they should, which only makes the problem more of a mystery.
Votes, number of views and number of photos do not seem to have any effect on the problem. It’s inconsistent.
For the record, here are the N-numbers of my photos that do not appear on the tracking page:
