I know the longest Flight in the US is operated by Continental (EWR-HNL). But, what is the longest flight, other than JFK-LAX, in the 48 states of America, on Delta Airlines?
Thanks!
If you expand the parameters more to any Part 121 operation in the 48 states then there are several semi-regular charter operations that operated between BGR and the west coast that are slightly longer. As an example, NAO111 from SMF to BGR is 2760 nm.
Thanks for your replies. I Thought that the BGR (Bangor) to LAX (Los Angeles) Flight was the longest, but no major airline runs that flight. Plus, the flight would have to fly over Canada to reduce flight time! Also, what about the JFK-PHX route? That is a long flight as well… D:
Why consider that one, when it is still another hour and a half to San Diego? And even with that, Boston is further east than JFK. So a BOS-SAN run would easily eclipse a JFK-PHX run…
Assuming Part 121 ops, JBU405 is longer than any JFK-LAX run. JFK-LAX is 2474sm (2571sm flown), according to AAL21.
JBU405 from BOS-SAN, is 2585sm (2750sm flown). Beats the JFK-LAX run by 115sm as the crow flies, and 179sm with headwinds.
But since you mention exclusively on Delta, their longest run is the JFK-SFO run, at 2582sm (2678sm flown), according to DAL1465.
Thanks! Delta Airlines Rules! In fact, on 20 Dec 2010, i am going on a flight from SAN to DTW on Delta (Northwest Airlines, used to be). A side-question: do the A320’s have AVODS? They make the plane go by much faster .

Trust me…the length of the flight has nothing to do with the map distance between the origin and hoped-for destination. On the newly named Delta - “The Apology Airline” - I have had the recent pleasure of several interminable flights that, given their time-duration, could have actually gone somewhere fun. “We sincerely apologize for the fill-in-the-blank-problem and appreciate your business…” Time to spare? Go by Air!
