As already said: Running the test for such a short time only makes sense with a noticeable traffic.
Otherwise the results are not comparable.
It would be better to install graphs1090 and monitor a specific gain setting for a full day before changing it.
rtl_test tests basic communication with the dongle. It does not care about what ADS-B traffic is present. It is fine to just run it for 30 seconds.
My bad. I mixed it up wit a different script regarding gain.
