Trying to find 1936 Gullwing Stinson in France

My dad restored a 1936 Gullwing Stinson (NC16164) ~40 years ago and sold it after enjoying it for many years and winning Grand Champion at Oshkosh. We heard it was sold and taken to France from the States. He has since passed but my brother and I would like to take my 80 yr old mom on a trip to find it/see it if possible. The last sighting on here is a pic of it 11 years ago in Cannes, France. I’m wondering if it is still flying or possibly in a museum somewhere? I’m not sure what my next steps would be to locate it- open to suggestions. We are planning our trip for early 2026. Thanks

If you know the french registration you can look it up in the french aircraft register to see if it is still active. Additionally you could look if it has made recents flights (if active) and try to determine the home base of the aircraft and narrow down your search area.
This could be a starting point:

Thanks Tom. Good idea - I’ll see if I can find anything on the registration.
