Why can I see some aircraft (rescue helicopters) on flightradar but not on flightaware at the same time. They appear to be ADS-B fitted.

Do you have an example? It depends a lot on where it is. If there’s no flightplan they can be linked to then will probably show up as position-only flights (available to enterprise accounts & ADS-B feeders).
