Tracking By Using Navigation Aids

Would it be possible, or is it possible to track by typing in a navigation aid say “SSM” and then see all the aircraft who currently have that nav aid in their flight plan? I think it would be a cool idea because if you knew of a nearby nav aid and typed it in you could know when planes are going to be flying over head of it.

It’s not possible.

Since many navaids are located enar airports, I suggest typing in the airport’s code and see if the navaid shows up. Be sure to check out the smaller airports that don’t have all letters in their codes such as KC83.

You’ll, of course, have to estimate where the navaid is but that should be easy to do if you triangulate from 3 airports.

Explicitly in their flight plan route or implicitly based on the airways they’re using?
