Last couple months I’ve seen 5-6 IFR flight plans registered on FlightAware using my plane’s registration number. I see notifications the plan was filed. I then see flight updates on takeoff, estimated arrival, and arrival.
How can this happen? I can guess that someone mistyped their reg number in whatever filing service they use. But how do the actual flight updates happen without reference to an ADSB signal? Could they have misprogrammed ADSB as well?
FAA database shows my correct info for that N number, and only my info.
I know FlightAware is not responsible for fixing this, but would appreciate anyone explaining how it might be happening so I can figure out how to stop it.
Very annoying to see “your” airplane fly somewhere you know it ain’t.
