Skyaware Anywhere limit on number of aircraft?

Occasionally I’m getting the message from Skyaware Anywhere that it is only showing the top 200 of aircraft.
Is that a hard limit or is this something that can be changed in a setting somewhere ?
Is there someone that can elaborate on that matter ?

This limit only applies to the table of aircraft data, not the map itself. That is, if SA is aggregating 250 aircraft, all 250 will show on the map, but only 200 rows will show in that table. The reason is that the sort logic for that table, which dates back to the early days of dump1090, is not very efficient. At a certain point, the overhead for sorting a large number of rows will begin to slow/crash the web browser.

This is a hard limit that was set conservatively when we built this product, and cannot be changed.

Thank you for the clarification :+1:t2: Good to know it affects the table only.

I assume that limit applies to the local SkyAware page also since it’s a limit set by dump1090. I vaguely remember seeing the limit reached once. It would take an exceptional blue sky day with lots of GA aircraft for it to happen here (with my setup).

But that limit does not exist on all devices.

This is a local map close to my location with very good reception.
Showing more than 200 without a warning.

Maybe because the owner did not upgrade to the latest 8.2 so far
