Roundtrip USA

#1

Does anyone on this forum have previous experience with a week-long roundtrip covering as much of the US as possible, in a single engine (cessna/piper/diamond/cirrus)?
We’re looking at an average of 6 to 8 flying hours a day, seven days in a row.
Starting point doesn’t really matter.
We just want to hear from pilot’s who have flown such “missions” in the past

I did Houston, Pheonix, Bellingham, Rapid City, Chicago, Milwaukee, Springfield MO, Dallas, Houston in light twin.

There was a purpose to it though, picking family that were visiting Vancouver B.C.; visiting family in the Chicago area, visiting the Oshkosh Air Show. Checking out the caves in MO and never having been to Dallas before (check out the planetarium, a real treat).

When I do a love of flying type trip, I work to find destinations and routes that really maximize the benefits of using a light airplane.

Hi,

I did a round trip of the US. I landed in all 48 States. Here is the website I set up on it. www.the48states.com

We took a Cessna 182, Each day consisted of about 10 hours of flying. But we did it in 6 Days.

Hope this helps

Matt

Matt:
I scanned your site and daily routing. However, I believe you over-flew AR when going from MS (KMEI) to Neosho, MO (KEOS). No airport listed for AR - so 47 of 48?

After checking a little furhter: Seems to be missing more - I got 45 states visited. Looks like you missed OK and the Republic of TX.

Gotta give you AND your instructor a Pass for Effort, but a Below Avg for navagation, which is an important part to master for a commercial pilot.

Seems they missed Louisiana too!

By land area, those 4 states represent 14% of the lower 48. Missing 4 out of 48 is only 8%.

Of the places He has been to, I grew up in McCook, Nebraska (KMCK) and moved to Valparaiso, Indiana (kvpz) 3.5 years ago

Hi

I should have said that the website was not up to date, I’ve been too busy to update it and there were a few errors on there.

The initial routing was: KBJC KSKX KPGA KCDC KELY O59 KRDM KALW S80 KWYS KCOD KSPF 4E7 KMOX KMCW KPVB KRPJ KVPZ KIRS 1G3 KGKJ KJHW KRUT KCON B19 6B6 KSFZ KIJD KFWN KILG KDMW KMRB KJYO I35 KGKT KAVL KCEU KOPN KDTS KPRN KMEI KTVR KCRT KOSA 4O4 KEOS KCNU KMCK KBJC.

However there were a few times where weather made us change our destination in that state. The following is what we actually did.

KBJC KSKX KPGA KCDC KELY O59 KRDM KALM S80 KWYS KCOD KDIK KABR KMML KMCW KPVB KRPJ KVPZ KIRS 1G3 KGKJ KJHW KRUT KCON B19 KLWM KSFZ KIJD KFWN KILG KDMW KMRB KJYO KLOZ KTRI KAVL KCEU KCSG KPRN KDTS KGPT KMLU KOSA 4O4 KFYV KJLN KFOE KMCK KBJC.

I’m hopefully going to get the site updated over the holidays.
