Lots of people have old laptops sitting in drawers. These could be easily repurposed as ADS-B feeders to FA for the price of a RTL-SDR dongle. Obviously an RPi would be much more efficient (use less power).

You may be interested in this thread where that very topic was discussed just a few months ago.

FA may want to consider creating a piaware virtual appliance that people could download for free from VMware and run on VMware Workstation Player (and Workstation Pro and Fusion on Mac).

I suspect the support issues would be insurmountable.

Spend $US35 and buy a Pi, download the image and it will just work.
