request

just a request if the company reads this, please add an option on flight notifications for instant messenger(yahoo, aol, msn) or I would say the possibility of text notifications, but that might cost money. The IM notifications should be possible for close to real time updates without having to wait for email. Thanks

Question. You mention text notifications. Are you talking about text messages to phones?

I know that there is an option for and AOL IM alert, as well as Jabber, but the FA gurus can confirm/deny if they do in fact work (I VAGUELY remember there being an issue with them a long time ago).

Also, real time might be tough because of the FAA delay that is put on the data that is sent to FlightAware.

You can get text messages sent to your phone (standard rates apply) with your carrier’s email-SMS gateway. Usually your 10 digit phone number @ one of the following domains:

Alltel @message.alltel.com
Amp’d @vtext.com
Boost @myboostmobile.com
AT&T @txt.att.net
Metrocall @page.metrocall.com
Nextel @messaging.nextel.com
Sprint @messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile @tmomail.net
US Cellular @mms.usc.net
Verizon @vtext.com
Virgin (USA) @vmobi.com
Windstream @windstream.net
