I’m sure this has been a topic in threads many times, but I’m darned if I can find it 
I’m pretty happy and in agreement with my theoretical range at 40kft (1st image tar1090 blue line with 8 hours of tracks) and what I’m actually getting (2nd image VRS showing a running maximum).
Obviously it very much depends on traffic and most aircraft are flying in the 30k region, but I’m glad this matches pretty well 
I’m maxed out at 232Nm
At least it shows you do not have nothing other than geographical limitations in your area
I check mine from time to time and my actual max range under flat conditions generally ties in nicely with the predicted max range. I love it when a plan comes together

It’s a setting for the users opening the map. If you have the web interface enabled, you find it in the Options:
