I would like to see at least a few more range rings on the sky view map. I see flights out to 350-400 miles away consistently because of my location but it would be handy to look at a glance to see about how far out flights are getting…
Hi XE3N7NAT what are you using to view the map and existing rings?
Web Interface: FlightFeeder Skyview
if you are using a raspberry pi you can add in additional range rings by editing the /usr/share/dump1090-fa/html/config.js file.
just add in the additional distances you want like I have on this line
SiteCirclesDistances = new Array(25,50,75,100,125,150,175,200,225,250);
then just Ctrl O
Enter
Ctrl X
Enter
then I just reboot the Pi and refresh my browser
Sounds great, will get to work and play with that info, that will be very good.
Thank you coxyb76, set my rings up just the way I wanted out to 400 miles. Because of my location I was always going out farther than the rings would go. Anyway, Thanks again, great add-on.
Add Range Rings to 3.7.1
I went into the file, config.js and added the additional distances per the posted instructions from the previous post, however, when I went into the file “script.js” I could not find anything that matches the information. Any suggestions?
It should be enough to change the values in config.js. Not sure it needs a reboot, but clearing the browser cache is probably necessary.
Range rings can also can be customized in SkyAware.
Use the settings Icon (small gear) on upper right side of page.
