Range getting worse?

Is this even possible?

I seem to have a much shorter range than i remember. In summer I can see planes much further.

Are signals affected by the weather?

I havent moved the antenna what else can affect it? can the cable degrade? can it rust (contacts)? how do I get the info off the reciever to see if the s/n is worse? or how do i even quantify my ‘gut feel’?

Help me see the data, and understand - cos im stuck!

Looks like we may need more information to help.

Please install some data graphing software. It is a huge help when searching for answers. If you have read of others having problems, this program creates the graphs they posted. [quote=“foxhunter, post:11, topic:91937”]

Can you describe your system, start with the antenna type, indoor or outdoor, Cable type and length, receiver type, Pi type, power supply, internet connection, Ethernet or WIFI.

Could any water have gotten into your antenna or cable? Those will cause a significant drop in capability. With the above information, we should be able to hone in on the problem area.

Where is your gain currently set at?

Looks like a power outage just before the drop in range and signal level.

Check your power supply?

user stupidity…

So the graphs show that it stopped - and after climbing onto the roof - the thing i can see from the ground is the pole the antenna should be mounted to - not the antenna…

so after putting the antenna back into a vertical orientation, back up on the pole - this happened.

I will let you guess what time it happened…

suffice to say - dont doubt the easy things just cos you think its not worth checking.

thanks to all those who helped, but this was a pebkac issue…
