RadarBox feed discrepency

Like many (most?) of you I also feed multiple flight tracker systems. I initially set up FlightAware and then added FlightRadar24, ADS-B Exchange, PlaneFinder and OpenSky. Last night I was feeling lucky so I added in RadarBox24.

I’m just using the dump1090-fa and beast mode to pass on the existing data and I set up their mlat also. All seems to be ok. I noted a 3 - 5% increase in CPU load but that’s well within what the Pi 3B+ has available still.

My issue is that RadarBox is only showing about half of the planes detected and displayed sucessfully by the other 5 systems. e.g. 55 on RB and 100 on FA. Even right now I’m geting 20 detected with positions and only 11 on RB are shown.

So far my best guess is that RB is only showing scheduled commercial flights and not the cargo, military or small private planes or those who have requested “privacy”.

Everything seems to be running well. I get mlat connections ok though only in the 10-20 range vs 300-400 on FA.

Any thoughts?

Ok it has been suggested that RB has a shorter time out for when the signal is lost. The various wires, beams, A/C unit and A/C ducts in my attic do cause a lot of “interuptions” to the line of sight so planes fly in and out of my “reception lines” . North and South and to some extent East are obstruction free but the rest is a jumble.

A previous owner of my house must have been into radios as there are a lot of long wires running the length of the attic, insulators, bits of coax, dissasembled antennas, splitter boxes, boxes of ancient rotary variable capacitors and even a naked vacumm tube from something the size of an oscilloscope and that’s all in the area near the access hatch.

I’d love to put the antenna on the roof but HOA rules…

Put the flag on the antenna and if the HOA objects tell them you are patriotic!
