PLANE DOWN IN WAPPINGERS FALLS NY

A Piper cherokee departed Orange county NY and was enroute to Danbury CT . The aircraft was found four miles southwest of Dutchess County Airport. The pilot of the aircraft was found dead. N345AT pilot had attempting an emergency landing on a road when the aircraft went down short - into dense woods. Pilot had reported loss of oil pressure and mechanical problems and stated he was landing on a road.

Unfortunately, the passenger succumbed to his injuries yesterday.
