Wow guys, I was in for a real surprise when I flew out of PIT last week. US had eliminated all operations out of concourse A, and cut out half of the gates in the B concourse (they’re down to 1/4 of the gates left) and man is it spooky. It’s like a ghost town in there. They even put in a wall where about 15 gates used to be on both concourses A & B.
Since I had to fly through Charlotte (direct service from PIT to my destination has been cut), I am actually getting a little concerned that CLT will turn into an ATL/PHL airport. The commuter terminal (E) was packed beyond belief, along with every where else in the airport (since many flights operating in PIT weren’t really cut, but just moved to CLT).
I can understand moving some of the flights to Charlotte, but Philly? The traffic in that part of the country is terrible. The flight delays there are longer than the extra travel time would be from PIT if they kept those flights there. Add to that the baggage problems and the other problems Philly has that PIT never had during their peak.
Yeah, that’s basically what I’m saying. With some new service continually being added to CLT (which, when I walked through it, reminded me a little of PIT), I really wouldn’t like to see CLT turn into a PHL (everything you just mentioned), which would further degrade US Airways.
Also, it’s really going to be interesting to see what US’ profits & customer service rankings are these upcoming quarters to so how much money they really saved by pulling out of PIT.
