Piaware 7.2 and gain control addin (5.0)

I just upgraded to 7.2 then came across the gain control addin that was based on piaware 5.0.

Is the newer version still compatible with 5.0?

I sometimes get a large shift in received planes, wonder if the
AGC is causing it.

suggestions?

thanks,
tim

Can you please elaborate which “gain control addin” you installed / added in ver 5.0?

As far as I remember, Flightaware integrated their “adaptive gain control” in dump1090-fa starting from version 6.0.

I was only aware of one so far, from Fuzz the Pi guy at Setting Up RTL Gain Control Drop Down For Piaware Dump1090-fa GUI | FlightAware ADS-B - YouTube and have not added it in. Was more at the “look before I leap” stage, just looking for more gain awareness.

here is a link to my piaware page, specifically I was looking at the positions graph.

That Youtube site refers to uploader’s site http://fuzzthepiguy.tech/gain-control/
In above site it uses following installation script for piaware ver 5.0 from my Github site

Upon release of piaware ver 6.0, I added [outdated] to the name of ver 5.0 scripts, and posted new version-less scripts which work for piaware versions 6 and above. It works OK on ver 7.2 also. If you want to install it, use the current script from here:

Just installed this great addin, but any idea how I can realign the issue circled in red

Maximize the Browser or increase the width of the table.

EDIT:

The above mentioned problem is NOT caused by embedding Set-Gain.
I have checked another Pi’s Skyaware map which does not have Set-Gain button embedded. That browser also has same problem when Browser width is reduced. (Please see screenshot below).

Hi abcd567,

My Google Chrome also facing a minor issue. Please refer to the screenshot for detail. is it the browser issue as well? (With the RED BOX highlighted) I tried on Firefox and it seems look normal.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards.

This seems to be Browser specific
Please increase browser height, and see if the issue disappears.
Also try reload Browser (Ctrl + F5)

Just reduce the font size for the “Current Gain” line.

Hi @abcd567,

I use my another PC and there is completely in full, no issue on it…

I assumed the screen resolution made the different outlook / view of the same brand name of browser.

Thanks for the reply on this matter.

Have a nice weekend.

I would like to add this to mine. Where would I enter the command? Do I need to get to the pi@piaware prompt or from any command line window prompt? I’m not at all familiar with linux so I’ll need step by step instructions. I just upgraded to 7.2 and it took me quite awhile to get it up and running. Since then, I’m only seeing a little less than 1/2 of my normal daily totals. I don’t know what the problem is but I’d like to start off looking at the gain settings.

You have to install PuTTY on your Windows Computer, and using it have to SSH to RPi.

You have then to enter commands in the SSH terminal as shown below.
