Thanks… what’s the unit with the red light the dongle is plugged into. I’m going straight from my antenna to the dongle. Is that your power to the Pi? I was wondering it it it’s an amp.
Ok… I follow your original link and get to a blog that starts with the history of burlesque (fascinating) and references to instructions but no links… if you have the .pdf can you share it here somehow or just summarize?
I have recently built a 6 element CoCo with RG6 and no termination at the top. I have seen a tremendous increase in both my traffic and the range. This antenna is still indoors at a window. I do plan on mounting it outdoors but the cold is keeping me away. The ground plane looks quite simple as well and I am looking for some F connectors to build it with. The term I am searching on amazon and eBay is “F chassis connector” but I am not having much luck finding any with the metal plate to join the radials to. Anybody have a source that will ship to Canada?
I ran across a Pan Pacific RFA-817P “Adapter UHF Male to F Female” which plugs into my groundplane base on the SO-239 and connects to RG-6 cable to the Pi. Saved me from a kludge construction project. Google found several suppliers, Amazon was not among them.
I can solder fairly well but this was a hassle. I pop riveted mine. Making an 8 gp element version this weekend. Will drill the other 4 1/8" holes on a drill press. Works great. 150-200 nm as it sits on top of a stick in my side yard. Roof top this weekend. Rg8X cable run.
Looking at the picture more closely it appears that is what was used, the SO239 and the UHF to F adapter. I popped in a local electronics shop yesterday and they had the parts available. I will try to build the antenna today and see how it affects the stats.
