MLB/NFL/NBA Charter Planes

Witches!

It’s actually pretty easy, know the teams schedule and watch FA for non routine late night flights at the city they played at or will play and it all adds up

Does anyone have updated flights for the Houston Rockets?

Saw it land today N757SS, they play the Spurs Monday flightaware.com/live/flight/PMM7 … /KHOU/KSAT

Looks like SF Giants are using Delta this year, DL8892, Phoenix to San Francisco. Must be price as I would think a charter would give better flexibility

Is there an MLB list yet?

I haven’t seen a list yet, but I did notice the White Sox using UAL2503 from PHX-MDW on Wednesday. They had been UAL2208 the past few years.

Hey Guys. The Pittsburgh Pirates Has Changed to UAL2512

The Cleveland Indian’s were 2206 now 2501. I discovered this as they just flew PHX-DFW for Monday’s game. Previous flight history which verifies that flew PHX-SAT a few weeks ago when part of the team played some games there. The UA site will show details of flights when you plug in the number but does not show up when tracking the route.

Here is a list of 2017 MLB flight numbers based on likely flight information from the last few days:

Atlanta Braves DAL 8883
Boston Red Sox DAL 8884
Chicago Cubs UAL 2504
Chicago White Sox UAL2508

Detroit flies on N682RW (blocked).

My question is this – Do most of these teams use the same planes all year long, or are these reportings mostly one-time reports that would have changed since previously noted?

I just ask because if they dont regularly use the same ones, it’s pretty pointless to even post about them or label them in VRS if they change every week.

Mike

I think there is a good chance it’s all year long but changes from season to season. I was using the flight info from this thread to hobby “planespot” one of the MLB team’s flight some of last season as they cruised overhead between 30000-40000 feet.

This season is a different flight number but seems to check out properly so far with the couple of flights taken already.

Thank you. I’ll make note of these then and label them in my VRS when I have time. I appreciate it.

Looks like Oakland is using GTI8632 this year. Must have just used the AA flight to get home from Spring Training.

Arizona is using AA9461

In most cases they will use the same flight number all year long. Not sure if it is the exact same plane every time (I would doubt it), The Delta, United, American and Air Canada flight numbers will stay the same. The only ones that could change are the Atlas Air or Paradigm Air. Some times they change, some times they don’t.

I would actually say that if they changed on a weekly basis, it would be very helpful to be listed here. Sharing of information is what helps everyone out. For the most part, you won’t see too many more postings this year for MLB since we have all of the flight numbers listed.

planes (hardware) change, flight numbers stay the same from the planespotting I’ve done. I suppose if a team has a custom livery plane, the hardware may even stay the same as well but for the two teams I planespot, they don’t have a customized plane for their use so the hardware changes that carries out the flight number.

What you will notice is sometimes during a long homestand, you might see that flight number used for another client but then used for the MLB team again when the homestand ends and they need a flight to their first road city of the new roadtrip.

Track the hardware sometime - it’s cool to see a MLB flight take a team somewhere, then that hardware will change flight number and go to commercial paying customer service so you don’t have the plane sitting idle at the city of the MLB team for days or even a week or so. When the MLB team is ready to move to the next city, the flight number they use will return and it’ll be different hardware in the cases I monitor.

I have Baltimore as UAL2506 and Texas as AAL9244. They are both traveling today. And as someone else pointed out, Arizona is AAL9461 and Oakland is GTI8632.

Would anyone know what’s going on with the MLB tail numbers this year? I tried tracking the DBacks plane but it only shows their opening day flight on 4/10 to SFO and nothing else. I tried also incrementing the flight number by one and it doesn’t bring up anything…any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
