I have some astronomy app’s where one has to point a phone or tablet to the sky to get information about satellites or celestial objects. The software uses the phone’s built-in sensors to obtain a position and links this to objects in a database. Wouldn’t it be nice to have this kind of app for tracking airplanes and helicopters in the sky? Just aim and you’ll get all the info you need. So far I haven’t seen anything like this yet, have you?
The Flightradar24 app does this. They call it “AR” augmented reality. It is pretty cool. Touch AR in the top right corner of their screen and point your device at something flying nearby.
Gonna have a look at that, unfortunately it’s bound to the filtered FR24 data, it would be nice if it could use my own (unfiltered) json feeder data.
