SAN MIGUEL COUNTY - The San Miguel Sheriff’s Office says a plane was totaled
Saturday after the pilot missed the runway while trying to land at the
Telluride Regional Airport.
It happened 5 p.m. Saturday. Two people were on board the Lear 45 jet.
They received minor injuries.
9News Meteorologist Nick Carter says snow was falling in that area at the
time of the crash.

Looks like they were holding for almost an hour!!! Was the weather that poor?
METAR for KTEX. At 5:10, flight rules were LIFR and ceilings were reported at 2300. This airport doesn’t have an ILS approach.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t divert… would it really have been that big of a deal?
Check out the plane’s FA picture. I think they stopped through here to/from Alaska back in the summer.

It’s operated by Aero Jet Services
FlightAware Flight Tracker N394CK Citation 560 Ultra also went off a runway, landing @ Rifle Colorado last week.
Fortunately there were no injuries to the 6 on board.

Glad the crew is okay. Unfortunately, Telluride’s IAP’s (instrument approach procedures) are restricted to Category A&B only - the Learjet 45 is a Category C. So it’s not authorized. As with any special airport - there are numerous considerations for operating at KTEX.

Given your new membership (today) and all of your posts on the topic, I’m guessing you’re a former employee of said company?

Thanks for the assumption - we know what they say about assumptions -
Anyway - never worked for AeroJet nor am I an employee of AeroJet. What does it matter anyway? The news needs to be reported.
