Korean airlines flight 38

Anybody know what happened on KAL38 on Sept 15? Looks like it was well into Canadian airspace, then it headed back south, entered US airspace then right back to a northerly heading. Actual total mileage of over 9,000 miles when 7,000 was predicted.

This is a bad position from the Canadian radar feed while the flight was out of terrestrial ADS-B coverage - the aircraft didn’t actually head south.

Thank you for your reply. Is the total air miles also effected by the bad radar?
