Installation Pictures

I recently requested (and was granted) a second FlightFeeder to use for 978, since my primary goal was to track small planes from the small airport nearby. Back when I first got set up, I didnt realize there was 2 frequencies to be used.

So, when the new FF arrived, I decided it was time to relocate the old and get both in one location and organized nicely.

I have a 20’ Rohn 25 tower, with roughly 10’ of mast on top, that I used for a short bit before installing a much larger tower for my ham radio antennas. This tower is mounted to the back of my 10x14 shed in my driveway, and has a winch to tilt it over to the ground, making the install nice and easy.

I set up a plastic enclosure to house the FlightFeeder units, and put TrendNet brand POE power bricks in to feed them power. The box is mounted on the mast, allowing easy an easy coax reach, and I have 2 CAT5 network runs coming down the tower into the shed to a POE switch (also used for cameras)

The 2 antennas are mounted on a horizontal 10’ piece of 3/4 EMT conduit at the top of the mast.

Here are links to the enclosure, and the POE bricks used to power the feeders.

One thing I did do with the POE Bricks is use some hot-glue to lock the switch to 5v output… a little too easy to change by mistake LOL

In the end, I am quite happy with how it came out, and hopefully I can hear back from the helpdesk soon to get the new feeder set up for 978!
