I have not been on this site for about a month…
So I came back,
Looked at the map…
“HOT DANG”, they got airplanes.
Keep up the GREAT work. (flightaware staff)

YES! And cooler still is this: The plane has a SHADOW! LOL
Is it just me or do the little shadows under the planes seem to get larger when the aircraft is at a higher FL? This seems to happen no matter what direction the plane is heading. I noticed this distinctly when I was tracking a Dash-8 that i flew on my way back from vacation. When the plane took off from PHL, there was no shadow, yet an ERJ145 that took off before it heading the same direction had a longer shadow.
Does anyone else see some sort of correlation?
Good eye, the airplane shadows do represent the altitude. A one-pixel away shadow represents FL000-FL059 as reported by the FAA, two-pixels FL060-FL119, three FL120-FL179, four FL180-FL239, five FL240-FL299, and six for FL300 and above.
I hadn’t noticed the shadow thing. Really kinda cool.
