Helicopters?

Does flightaware track helicopters because I can’t ever find any.

Please search the forums before posting.

Thanks

I was trying to find the scheduled flights of US Helicopter from KBDR to KJRB, but nada…

The fact that they’re scheduled flights doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) flights that would be trackable on FA.

Heed the excellent advice of mduell.
Also, look at flightaware.com/live/aircrafttype/ for all aircraft currently being tracked. You’ll have to either scan the list with your Mark I scanning device (i.e. eyeballs) or use the search feature of your browser to look for Sikorsky, Bell, etc.

Just one of many examples of helicopters. This one flies between St. John’s CYYT and Hibernia Oil Production Platform.

But like fixed wing, this must be flying IFR. The odd time you may see an ID like TV5 while looking at a local map, in that case the local controller has the copter in the system to facilitate separation / spacing of inbound / outbound traffic because the copter is flying ’ close ’ to the airport control boundaries.
