A long time ago, if I recall correctly, someone shared a way to view elevation contours for a site. This allowed the viewer to see what LOS may be less in a direction from the site. Does anyone recall a method to do this? I want to see why at my elevation I am not able to “hear” flights in certain directions from my location.
It has been talked about the most on this site. There may be other, similar sites.
Thanks, this is similar to what I recall. Now, based on this view to the WSW towards ATL, why is my reception no seeing flights in that area? And if I raise my antenna another 10’ would that be of benefit?
I very much doubt that raising your antenna by 10 ft would make much difference.
I suspect the issue is that most aircraft in the Atlanta area are too low for you to hear as they are either landing or taking off. Probably not a lot of high altitude overflights there for you to hear.
