Hello, friends. Can anyone explain how part way through its course, China Southern flight 654 suddenly appears hundreds of kilometers off course, circles several times at less than 100 kph near Rybinsk, Russia, before flying back to the original course and resuming at regular speed? I checked several other flight trackers and they each show different things, but they all share CZ654 circling near Rybinsk and very slow speeds. Could this be some kind of glitch? Is it preparing for an emergency landing, but then resolves issue and continues on flight plan? Does the slow airspeed, despite still being at 37,000 feet, mean some other force was involved? It is just a very strange situation. To be precise, this is China Southern flight CZ654, a Boeing 787-9, departing London Gatwick on July 5, 2025. Thank you.
gps jamming or spoofing probably not uncommon in the russian airspace and the neighbouring countries
