Flight route question

Hi, I’m new to the forum but thought I’d ask a question here.

My flight tracker picked up this Singapore Airlines flight and I noticed a “figure 8” pattern emerge along its route. Is this unusual for a flight or what might be the reason for such a pattern in the middle of a flight path? By the way it was still far from it’s destination (Shanghai) when this occurred.

  1. Suspect it was early for its landing slot, or slot was suddenly delayed.
  2. Wanted to show the view to the passengers.
