I had logmode 1 and got over 3 GB of log files
/var/log/fr24feed/fr24feed.1.log
fr24 2147483647 Jul 18 20:02 fr24feed.1.log
fr24 1279421860 Dec 18 16:35 fr24feed.log
now on logmode 0 to disable logs
For RadarBox24, the un-documented method to stop building up the size of log file is to add following line in [client]
section of rbfeeder’s config file /etc/rbfeeder.ini
:
disable_log=1
My test system has been running well with PiAware as the primary system, and FR24 bolted on via their fr24feed script, with the post-install tweaks mentioned here to prevent updates. It’s been working great.
I spent some time this evening looking at 15 other organisations mentioned in this forum. They all offered mostly the same features, often using tar1090 which I don’t like, but I did settle on Plane Finder as another one worth adding for the visualisation features. I followed their instructions for an existing feeder and it was pleasingly painless.
I now have PiAware with the OL6 replacement front end, FR24’s site with access to the 3D and history features, and Plane Finder’s local interface on a different port which gives 3D live tracks and a 3D polar plot. Very nice features.
Both FR24 and Plane Finder are being fed using AVR-TCP on localhost from port 30002. It looks like the latter supports Beast mode too but AVR seems to offer everything needed for the features. Things like signal strength I am getting directly from the OL6 map.
I looked at RadarBox, was tempted but it doesn’t quite work with my Safari and the ATC audio doesn’t have the UK.
